The Great Slide Off

Last week we got quite excited about sliding with Crazy Carpets. Students tried going down the hill as singles, doubles, and we even had a few triple sliders. There were knee sliders, bum sliders, and students doing whatever they could to just stay on.

We decided to have a slide-off Wednesday to see which technique would slide the furthest. Students had the choice of sliding by themselves or in pairs and they could get to the bottom which ever way they chose.

After deciding whether they would slide solo or as a team and a few warm up slides, we were ready to go.

Sliding down the hill two Crazy Carpets at a time, we quickly found that it was going to be a close contest. Most students decided to double up for the contest, but Nathan and Owen H decided to do something that no one else thought of .. they decided to go as a team, but rather than both sliding down the hill, one stayed at the top of the hill to give the other a starting push. They figured that a push from the top would produce enough power to go the furthest. In the end they were right, it was Nathan and Owen H were the champions with the furthest slide!

We all celebrated our efforts and their success.
