Construction has Started

This week, students started building structures .. that is buildings, things that can stand on their own. Reading "Dreaming Up: A Celebration of Building" by Christy Hale, students looked at a variety of building found around the world and how they could create versions of them in the classroom.

Thank you to all the families that contributed materials for our building projects!  Students have been experimenting, using a variety of materials, to see how to make 3D structures.  So far, the marshmallows and toothpicks have been a hit, along with apple sauce cups and egg cartons.

Next week, we will continue building. In addition to the huge buildings we have around the class, we will also try making smaller structures, using popsicle sticks, decks of cards, and other similar items.
