30x30 Challenge Day Two - A Day

Although it was a chilly day, Friday was the second day of the David Suzuki 30x30 Challenge, the first day participating for the A Day students.

Avery asked if we could do art that day and that was the plan, but rather than doing art inside, we took our paint and paint brushes outside. Students painted what was right in front of them, focusing on the trees on the far side of the parking lot, to create a class mural.

After we finished painting, we decided to explore the "big yard" and there was a lot to do! The class was so excited to run in the wide open field. After running, they took a break to watch the mini excavator doing some work to get ready for the arrival of the portables. Some were also interested in investigating the big sand pit.

The highlight of the morning was when we went over to the slide. They couldn't get there fast enough. Not only did students take turns on the slide, AJ and Katie were "tight rope walkers" around the edge of the landing pit and just about everyone took a turn rolling down the hill.

I knew we had a great morning when Madison said "they all look so happy" as we were watching the girls and boys go down the slide.
