During Outdoor Learning today, Ms. McDowell should some of our students where a good place to find ladybugs might be .. the result, we are now ladybug crazy in Room 106!
Students from both classes spent the better part of half an hour running between the ladybug hot spot and the teachers, showing off their finds. We were impressed with their dedication to the task! In the end, we came back to class with at least 10 ladybugs in a lidless bucket.
The ladybugs stayed in the bucket until after gym. Some of the class had magnifying glasses and were looking at the bugs until one decided to fly towards freedom. The ladybug flew around the room, creating a lot of excitement! Some were trying to track the ladybug across the ceiling with the magnifying glass, while others were trying to catch it; there was a lot of noise and activity. We reminded the students that the bugs didn't hurt us outside (we LOVE nature) so they won't hurt us inside either.
We transferred the rest of the ladybugs into one of our containers with a magnifying lid so we can continue to observe our new class friends without having to worry about them flying free tomorrow.
